Niamh & Damien

ballygarry house wedding photographer photo (49)

Niamh and Damien were married in Feohanagh church and held their reception in Ballygarry House in Tralee. Other than some roa dworks and a bit of a traffic tailback, the day went really smoothly – which was to be expected from a couple who are as organised as these two. I heard that the ribbons were put on the cars the night before the wedding! Usually that’s a last minute scramble with a scissors and search on YouTube! 😉

Things I loved about Niamh and Damien’s wedding:

  • I was passing by Damien’s house so I got to pop in there for some photographs of the guys getting ready. The driveway was like a starting grid!
  • Niamh’s house that morning was a hive of activity. The kids were very excited, especially the flower girls.
  • The constant smile on the page boys face for the entire day – he must have been training those smiling muscles for months!
  • Cherry blossom trees in full bloom – 100% natural biodegradable confetti! 😉
  • The tea party drinks reception.
  • The one and only time in my life I will ever take a photograph of a groom wearing underpants outside his suit holding a happy meal.
  • The best collection of embarrassing photographs ever collected for a speech!

Some kind words from Niamh and Damien:

Thank You doesn’t even cut it… an absolute professional & a dream to have you photograph our wedding. You put us completely at ease, we enjoyed every minute!

Mairead & Seán

How can I sum up Mairead and Sean in a single word? … sound! Mairead and Seán were married in Kilnamona church and held their reception in the Lakeside Hotel in Killaloe. Secretly they hired some sort of magic weather machine that ensured that it only rained when they were inside and immediately stopped every time they stepped outside the door! It was amazing – I’d definitely recommend hiring them. 😉

Things I loved about Mairead and Sean’s wedding:

  • The kids excitement and Mairead’s house that morning.
  • Page boy ZOMBIES!!
  • The flowers. Wow. They were done by Mairead’s mother and when I scouted the church a few days ahead of the wedding they had already started working on them. Their hard work paid off, they were incredible.
  • Sean’s waistcoat. Loved it.
  • One of the flower girls, when we went to take the first official photograph – “Let’s get this over with, shall we!”
  • The Torpey branded hurleys.
  • Finally getting to the location we used for the bridal party photographs. I’ve been trying to get there for wedding photographs for years, but the weather has always prevented it. (Luckily Mairead and Seán had that magic weather machine!)
  • The stories shared in the speeches – from the first time Seán’s parents met Mairead to nostril wheel removal!

Katie & Denis

Katie and Denis were married in Mountcollins Church and held their reception in the Devon Inn Hotel. It was a great day and one of the funniest moments involved their beloved dog – a boxer called Katie Taylor. We had an idea for a photograph with Katie and Denis’ hands and also Taylor’s paw. In true never-work-with-animals style, Taylor was having none of it. Katie and Denis were coaxing/promising/ordering/threatening Taylor to lift a paw. Finally, Taylor put a paw on their hands and Denis ordered “other paw Taylor”! I can’t remember the last time I laughed so hard!!

Things I loved about Katie and Denis’ wedding:

  • For the first time ever, there was more commotion in the grooms house in the morning than the brides house!
  • Taylor, obviously their pride and joy. I could do an entire post on just Taylor – the veil, THAT dickey bow, the facial expressions! 😉
  • Their “Let The Party Begin” sign as they walked down the aisle after the ceremony.
  • The most “unique” engagement ring photograph I’ve ever seen! (And never want to see again!)
  • The best man Kevin’s quick thinking during his speech to keep it age appropriate.

Some kind words from Katie and Denis:

We had  the best day. Thanks for photographing it, you were absolutely fantastic – so much fun and easy going.

Our families and friends are still commenting on the slide show, it really blew us all away! I don’t know how you managed to put it together so fast, we just loved it and cannot wait to see the rest of the photos!

Eimear & Ralph

Eimear and Ralph. Where do I start?! At the beginning I suppose…. they met on a speed dating night (perfect speech fodder!) and those three short minutes were enough to create a spark. Seeing them together when we met to discuss their wedding plans and of course on the wedding day itself I think that speed dating or no speed dating they would still have ended up together somehow. They are such a good match for each other and I was honestly humbled to be there to document the day. Don’t get me wrong – it wasn’t a soppy “perfect” wedding day that’s going to be turned into a major motion picture starring Hugh Grant! But, all things considered (especially the miserable weather!) it was a fantastic day.

Things I loved about Eimear and Ralph’s wedding:

  • The guys were getting ready nearby so I had time to swing in and photograph their preparations. Sunil was busy being DJ and it was good fun – especially the “parrot” jokes when putting on the flowers! 🙂
  • Customised Converse.
  • Witnessing the world’s first “belfie”!
  • Mons. Dan putting everyone at ease.
  • Mags and the staff at Coolbawn Quay. I love going to new places for weddings – but the more weddings I do the less new places there are! However, I’m looking forward to going back to Coolbawn Quay for the first time in good weather! 😉
  • Eimear and Ralph purposely taking some time out to just sit together and have a drink.
  • The girl’s rendition of “I love you baby”.
  • The best man dream team – Sunil and Raul – there are rumours of them setting up a Best man academy! 😉

Some kind words from Eimear & Ralph:

I don’t know where to begin… I knew you were an amazing photographer but you totally exceeded our expectations by miles!!

You were a true professional and worked so hard all day. You even went beyond photographer duties and took on other tasks, organising mics, finding missing bridal party members, etc. As for the slideshow we were blown away!

We got so much great feedback from all our guests on your work. On behalf of both our families and Ralph and I, thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

We were so lucky to have you part of our big day!
