Rachel & Kevin

treaty city brewery wedding photo

It was a privilege to be asked to photograph the first ever wedding in Treaty City Brewery in the heart of Limerick city. Rachel and Kevin planned their wedding to perfection, including lots of creative ideas and quirky personal items – from hand painted leather jackets to Rachel’s fingerprint engraved on Kevin’s wedding band.

After an intimate ceremony in the brewery, we walked (in the lashing rain!) to King John’s castle and Kevin and Rachel had a quiet drink in the Curragower before making their way to the top floor of the Strand Hotel for their reception.

Shoutout to some of the other people involved:

Yvonne & Enda

Yvonne and Enda are getting married next weekend so we met up for a chat about their wedding plans and afterwards we went for a little photo session on the beach to ease any nerves and get some nice photographs of them hanging out together. We got some beautiful weather, we practically had the beach to ourselves and to finish we were rewarded with a great sunset. Roll on the wedding!

Emer & James

annacarriga wedding photo

Emer and James met after the Great Limerick Run and got married exactly 6 years later. Emer had completed the run and was out celebrating – it turned out she picked up an injury so she went to find a seat and instead found her future husband! James on the other hand found someone to talk to that wasn’t able to escape! 🙂

Their sun soaked wedding day in AnnaCarriga was full of fun and personality and quirkiness. They had their wedding ceremony on the lakeside under the trees, partied outside to the music of a mariachi band and had their reception and danced the night away in the marquee.

Some things I loved about Emer and James’ wedding day were:

  • The quirkiness of Emer’s house that morning. A stuffed monkey? A room dedicated to tigers? Yes please!
  • The craic with Emer and her bridesmaids as they prepared for the big day.
  • The weather and the setting for their wedding – it was like being in another country.
  • Freddy, Emer and James’ dog, who was possibly the best dressed at the wedding.
  • Maracas for all the guests to shake during their first kiss and huge Señor and Señorita sombreros.
  • A surprise mariachi band to walk them down the aisle.
  • The lawn games – and the most competitive game of Connect Four I’ve ever seen! 🙂
  • The Snug Photobooth – always a big hit.
  • Surprising Emer and James with bib numbers from the Great Limerick Run and having a race along the lake.
  • The 3 amigos dance routine!
  • The shenanigans on the dancefloor – and twins doing the floss dance!

Some kind words from Emer and James…

Thank you so, so much for being such a fantastic photographer on the day. You really went above and beyond. Really appreciate you getting those race numbers. Such a nice touch and made our day, the photo is brilliant! Thanks again for everything and so excited to see all of the photos.

Sinead & Aidan

Sinead and Aidan – so good they were married twice! Firstly they had an intimate church ceremony in nearby Terryglass church and afterwards they had a second outdoor ceremony in the secret garden in Coolbawn Quay. Their wedding day was at the tail end of storm Doris so the weather was wild, wet and windy – but the cosy bar and marquee kept all the guest warm and chatting. Sinead and Aidan are genuinely two of the nicest, friendliest, down to earth people I’ve met and it was a pleasure to be there to document their wedding.

Some things I loved about Sinead and Aidan’s wedding day were:

  • The atmosphere in the guest house as Sinead and the girls got ready. Cousins hugging their distant cousin, shared funny stories and loads of fun.
  • An excited page boy’s countdown timer going off moments before leaving for the church.
  • The marryoke – can’t wait to see how it turned out. Can’t beat a bit of Whitney Houston every 10 minutes!! 😉
  • Fr. Larkin instantly putting everyone at ease in the church.
  • An embarrassed mother of a flower girl who decided to give her opinion on the music during the silence when it ended.
  • The randomness of the ceremony in Coolbawn – including an impromptu performance by Fr. Larkin.
  • The singing waiters during dessert.

Some kind words from Sinead and Aidan…

I cannot honestly thank you enough for everything on the day. From your first email I just knew you were the right person for myself and Aidan and you were unreal. You put us both at such ease and made everything so easy. Everyone was talking about the slide show on the day and the amazing pictures that you captured. Thanks you sooo much again for everything…

Laura & Gareth

Laura and Gareth were married in the Holy Trinity church in Adare and held their reception just down the road in the Woodlands House Hotel. From start to finish it was a day full of fun, hijinks and general tomfoolery! 😉

Some things I loved about Laura and Gareth’s wedding day were:

  • Mini, the camera shy cat and their three dogs.
  • The smashed champagne flute the minute the pros left the room. Couldn’t leave them alone for two seconds!
  • The bridesmaids smiling for photographs with their backs turned to me!
  • A certain groomsman’s attempt to attach flowers to the lapels.
  • Gareth’s funny lighting of candles improvisation.
  • Getting to meet “Helga” – the life and soul of the hen party – Ayyayaya coco jambo!
  • A special message from Nathan Carter to his fan
  • Sweets. Everywhere. It was as if Willy Wonka himself was getting married!
  • The first time I’ve ever witnessed somebody being thanked during the speeches for “being a pain in the hole”.
