Vivan and Kelvin are a really sweet couple. They travelled from Kentucky to renew their vows in Bunratty during a once in a lifetime trip around Ireland. Their story was one of the most romantic stories of any couple I’ve met this year (and I’ve heard some great stories!). Vivian had been sick and Kelvin was there to help nurse her back to health and in the process rekindled their love. It was a joy to photograph that love.
After an emotional renewal of vows in Ardcroney Chapel we went for a stroll through Bunratty Folk Park to Bunratty Castle. We stopped along the way to look at some of the old buildings and admire the views. The leaves were just starting to turn a lovely shade of gold and we got some beautiful light filtering through them.
Afterwards, Vivian and Kelvin travelled to Dromoland to enjoy a meal together and celebrate their relationship.
Claire was their wedding planner and she did an amazing job. It’s not easy organising a wedding from another country but it all came together beautifully on the day. The little chapel in Bunratty was the perfect find for their intimate ceremony. As a surprise for her mechanical engineer husband, Vivian hired a 1960 Silver Cloud Rolls to chauffeur them for the day. (Vivian later joked that Kelvin thought the car was probably the best part of the day!)
It was great to meet Nigel, the celebrant, and work with Fiona the makeup artist. It was a great day – thanks again to Vivian and Kelvin for having me there to document it! Here are some of my favourite photographs from the day.
Awww they were such a sweet couple!
