Jacqueline & James

wedding photographer limerick

Jacqueline & James were married in St. Mary’s church in Limerick and held their reception in the Strand Hotel. It was a great day, with all the guests in high spirits and enjoying themselves. I even got to take photographs of the bridal party along the banks of the Shannon which was a treat in the middle of Winter!

Things I loved about Jacqueline & James’ wedding:

  • Skype calls to family and friends in Australia.
  • Rían – the star of the show! He has his own entourage of loving cousins and Aunts! 😉
  • Champagne that decides to pop of its own accord! (Scaring the life out of everyone!)
  • The bridesmaid dream team – a creative person, an organiser and an entertainer!
  • The prayers of the faithful which were all read by Jacqueline and James’ young nieces and nephews.
  • Having family sing in the church is always special – but the duet with Cameron was amazing! So, so good.
  • Rían joining enthusiastically in the applause during the ceremony.
  • Socks with capes!
  • Now that’s what I call a wedding table plan. I loved the signing frame too.
  • The earliest knee slide across the dance floor I’ve ever seen – during the speeches! It was worth burning a hole through the suit!
  • Rebecca’s excitement when she was invited in to join Jacqueline and James during their first dance.

Some kind words from Jacqueline & James:

“Thanks Kevin, it was so relaxed and we didnt even know you were there! The slideshow was a massive hit and we cannot wait to see more pictures.”

Lorraine & Danny

Lorraine and Danny were married in Ballykisteen Hotel and Golf Club. When I first met them it was probably the most enthusiastic, energetic first meeting I’ve ever had. I barely got a word in! They had so many great ideas and thoughts on how to do things differently – I knew it was going be a very unique wedding. And it was!

Lorraine and Danny are the best kind of crazy – some of the stories during the speeches were testament to that – and they are so well matched. It was such a pleasure to be there to document it.

Things I loved about Lorraine and Danny’s wedding:

  • The first item on my agenda that day was taking a photo of Lorraine and Danny’s dogs – working with these two over excited, energetic, enthusiastic messers pretty much set the mood for rest of the day! 🙂
  • When Lorraine told her dad about her wedding she let him know it would be “different”. It was crazy and mad and fun and it was one of the funniest bridal party session I’ve photographed in ages.
  • I loved the personalised bridesmaids shoes Lorraine had organised for the girls.
  • As a surprise, Lorraine had organised with the musicians that they would play the Star Wars Imperial March (Darth Vader’s theme) when they were walking up the aisle! The reaction was priceless!
  • Lorraine’s brother and Danny’s sister did an amazing job as celebrants for the ceremony.
  • Finally getting to fulfil a young man’s lifelong dream of hanging from a tree by one arm on his wedding day!
  • Each table had a kissing menu which went down a treat and led to all sorts of antics. They also organised a table naming competition too which was really funny.
  • Lorraine’s dad’s card from two disgruntled uninvited guests.
  • The first dance slash dance off! It was the closest I’ve ever come to being kicked in the face by a bride! 😉

Some kind words from Lorraine & Danny:

“Thank you so, so much for being so amazing on the day! I didn’t see you once which was brill and I mean that in the nicest way possible! 😉 Absolutely loved the pictures and everyone was raving about the slideshow. Thanks so much again for everything, you really added to our day.”

… but first a HUGE DISCLAIMER!!! These guys made it clear that they wanted madness – I don’t usually encourage couples to climb trees, build sand castles in bunkers and generally go crazy! (Although if you want to I will definitely facilitate it!)

Emer & Niall

Lough Gur wedding photographer

Emer and Niall were married in Lough Gur church and held their reception in the Woodlands House Hotel in Adare. They are living in Australia at the moment so I didn’t get to meet them until  few days before their wedding. They turned up to the meeting with the most amazing photograph of both of them visiting Santa almost twenty years earlier – and not only that but the chief bridesmaid and the best man are also in the photograph! Incredible!

Things I loved about Emer and Niall’s wedding:

  • The crisp winter weather – it was one of those days where there was a lovely frost and clear blue skies. Perfect!
  • The location Niall found for the bridal party photographs.
  • All the details in Emer’s house – especially the Australian twist.
  • The “See you at the altar” book Niall made for Emer – it was full of photographs of them from over the years and even had a poem he wrote inside the cover.
  • Before the sermon, the priest set out to make everyone comfortable and he really succeeded with a relaxed and light hearted mass.
  • The signing map of the world at their reception – what a great idea.
  • I loved the cake – I’m a sucker for silhouettes though so that’s probably why!
  • As a surprise, Emer and Niall organised a magician for after the speeches. Jack Wise was brilliant, people were literally wiping away tears of laughter.
  • Cathal’s rendition of “head, shoulders, knees and toes”!!!

Some kind words from Emer and Niall:

“Just wanted to say a big huge massive thank you for all your hard work on our big day. You were absolutely fantastic in every single way Kevin. We are so happy that you were there with us. I’m so excited to see your photos and everyone I meet is saying the exact same thing. You made everything easy for us. We had a great day and it just seemed like you weren’t even there.”

Aoife & Mark

adare wedding photographer photo

Aoife and Mark were married in Emly church and held their reception in the Woodlands House Hotel in Adare. They had travelled home from Perth to get married so there was a great atmosphere for the day as they met up with friends and family they hadn’t seen in a while. They were beaming for the entire day – it must have been such an amazing feeling to fly 10,000 miles and spend the day surrounded by people you love and everyone that’s important to you.

Things I loved about Aoife and Mark’s wedding:

  • Aoife’s garage which was converted into a salon for the day.
  • The deaths coming on the radio during hair and makeup preparation – it’s such an Irish thing which really brought home the fact that they had travelled back. It was quickly followed by Ryan Sheridan’s cover version of “Walking in the air” – I love that version.
  • The amount of work Aoife’s father got done that morning – he washed everything from the wedding car to the dishes! Nothing was safe!
  • For the bridal party photographs we went to a quirky restored creamery. I love going somewhere new and unique for photographs – and given how the weather was behaving it was great to be inside!
  • The decorations in the woodlands – after locking myself away editing for weeks I finally got a bit festive!
  • Booking my first 2020 wedding (pressure is on Deirdre! tick tock!)
  • The speeches which were nothing short of hilarious. JP even got put under a bit of pressure to follow suit! 😉
  • The fun on the dance floor – I cracked up when one guy stopped dancing to answer a phone call on a shoe!

Some kind words from Aoife and Mark:

“Thank you sincerely for the outstanding work you did on our wedding day. The day went as brilliantly as we could have imagined and this is in no small part due to your professionalism and the no-fuss way you approached the day which really put us at ease.”

Alison & Trevor

castle oaks house hotel wedding photography

Alison and Trevor were married in St. Joseph’s Church in Limerick and held their reception in the Castle Oaks House Hotel. Their black tie winter wedding was full of style and personal touches. It was after a bad few days of rain – it was the first time I’ve seen the river in Castleconnell so flooded! – but thankfully the rain held off for the day.

Things I loved about Alison and Trevor’s wedding:

  • All of the little details at Alison’s house that morning – from handmade champagne glasses to nametags on each of the dresses.
  • The gift boxes made for each of the bridesmaids.
  • Ruadh, the flower girl, who was a star for the day – she’s not a bit shy anyway!
  • Meeting Trevor and the groomsmen at Bobby Byrne’s while they got a bit of courage for the day. 😉
  • That Christmassy feeling in the air.
  • The mixed reactions to Rudolph, who read one of the prayers of the faithful.
  • Alison and Trevor who were up for anything (and even came up with ideas themselves on the day) – despite how cold it was!
  • The last of the Autumn leaves still clinging on in the grounds of the hotel.
  • Everyone giving it socks on the dance floor – it was packed! I could barely move around!

Some kind words from Alison and Trevor:

“Thanks so much Kevin!! You were brilliant! Couldn’t have gotten a better photographer, everyone was complimenting your work!”

Michelle & Dermot

adare wedding photography

Michelle and Dermot were married in Newtownshandrum church and held their reception in the Woodlands House Hotel in Adare. Michelle and Dermot are really fun couple, full of life and happiness. There was a lot of laughing during the day – especially during the bridal party photography in the park in Adare, it was great craic!

Things I loved about Michelle & Dermot’s wedding:

  • Taking some time out from hair and makeup to go feed the world’s most excited dog! I almost got licked to death!
  • Eileen trying to put Michelle’s earrings in – it was soooo funny!
  • Shay, the page boy extraordinaire. He battled through tiredness but always had his best smile (and even some blue steel!) for the camera.
  • A surprise visit from two of Michelle and Dermot’s pet dogs after the ceremony.
  • Visiting Michelle’s Granny – we were only there for a few minutes but the photograph of the three of them laughing together on the couch is one of my favourites from the day.
  • The autumn leaves in the park in Adare.
  • Donal’s (Dermot’s twin and best man) story during the speeches about the time he helped out Dermot when he didn’t have his homework done. I won’t repeat it here for all sorts of legal reasons! 😉
  • Michelle and Dermot’s first dance. Some couples get dance lessons – but Dermot could GIVE dance lessons! 😉

Jackie & Aidan

adare knocklong wedding photography photo

Jackie and Aidan were married in Knocklong and held their reception in the Woodlands House Hotel in Adare. The venue for their reception we never in doubt because they both work there! They first met when Aidan got Jackie’s job while she went travelling to Australia with Fran (who was her chief bridesmaid). When she got back, Aidan made his move! 😉

The atmosphere in the Woodlands that day was electric. The staff that were lucky enough to be guests were having a ball and those who were working were putting in extra effort. It was like a big staff party!

Things I loved about Jackie & Aidan’s wedding:

  • Selfies!
  • Spontaneous crying at just the mere sight of a veil.
  • Pajoe (Jackie’s Dad) when seeing his daughter in her bridesmaid dress – “we might get rid of a second one today”!
  • The unusual bouquets.
  • Going to the bar for “a few pints”. Given the weather it was probably the best place to go!
  • Pajoe, who was busier than Santa in his workshop in the lead up to the wedding, creating the table runners and the tea light holders for the reception. It looked amazing.
  • Quick thinking bridesmaids who are not only helpful but save lives!
  • A few doves who refused to fly!
  • A wheelbarrow of beer. In bottles mind you, not just a wheeelbarrow with beer poured into it! 😉
  • The comraderie at the hotel. It was such a great party atmosphere, everyone was having a great time.
